Guerrilla usability testing quick start
A workshop helping teams to plan, run and understand the outputs from a guerrilla usability research study in a single day.
User research and usability testing has become a critical practice for any organisation running an online service, product or app. Particularly for those us working in an agile or lean environment, getting speedy feedback from our users is key to delivering high quality solutions in every deployment.
Guerrilla usability testing is an inexpensive and speedy way to put users at the centre of your design process.
In this workshop, I will work with your delivery team to design and run a usability study for one of your live products or services in a single day.
In the morning we'll plan the study together; identifying what we'd like to test, writing a script and finding suitable locations nearby. The team will learn about good interviewing practice and test those skills out on each other.
In the afternoon the team will split into groups and go out to the locations we identified to run their sessions with real participants. Then everyone will come back together to learn a simple approach to analysing the insights, and collaboratively agree on the findings.
Workshop participants will learn:
- When and where to run guerrilla usability studies
- Advice on to structure your study and produce a script
- How to approach and incentivise potential participants
- Proven interviewing techniques for research studies
- Best practices to record and analyse your results
